Mission of Port Ministries International, an association of individuals and agencies serving the international seafarers and port communities, exists to assist in evangelism, education, fellowship, development of new ministries, and promotion of an effective network of port ministers and denominational representatives. About 45 port ministries are currently working in cooperation with each other through PMI.

PMI works towards advancing the growth of the kingdom of God by assisting and equipping chaplains in their port ministries.

PMI has established the following objectives:

  1. Emphasis and support for missions and evangelism
  2. Fellowship-encouragement-cooperation
  3. Communication and networking
  4. Maintain relationships with the North American Mission Board, International Mission Board and other Southern Baptist Convention Agencies
  5. Continuing education
  6. Encourage and assist new port ministries
  7. Sharing resources
